Step-by-step method
- Subtract the birth year from the current year.
- Subtract the birth month from the current month. If the result is negative, subtract one year and add 12 months.
- Subtract the birth day from the current day. If the result is negative, subtract one month and add the number of days in the previous month.
Example
Date of birth: 15 March 2000. Date: 31 October 2026. From 15 March 2000 to 15 October 2026 is 26 years and 7 months, and from 15 October to 31 October is 16 more days. Exact age: 26 years, 7 months, 16 days.

Years like 2000, 2004 and 2024 have 366 days, which adds an extra day to total-days calculations. People born on 29 February usually celebrate on 28 February or 1 March in non-leap years.
