Counting days between dates is useful for deadlines, exams, projects, travel and contracts.
Basic method
Subtract the start date from the end date. For example, from 1 November 2026 to 1 December 2026 there are 30 days, because November has 30 days.
Weeks
Divide the days by 7. Thirty days equals 4 weeks and 2 days.
Business days
Business days are Monday to Friday. To count them, remove weekends from the total. Public holidays are not removed automatically, so subtract them separately if your project does not work on those days.
Include or exclude the end date?
Most calculators count from the start date up to, but not including, the end date. If you want both days included, add one day.
Where this helps
- Counting down to an exam or event.
- Checking notice periods and deadlines.
